OVERVIEW OF ITEMS

THE LOAN COLLECTION

The loan collection consists of a number of individual models/replicas/artifacts and some boxes of items relating to a particular theme.  There are also some examples of classic textiles and some audio-visual material.

Themed Boxes

Boxes have been assembled around various themes, some period related, some subject related.  They contain both (replica) artifacts and documents.  A few boxes are larger than normal - the Laundry boxes are contained in a dolly tub;  the Heating box includes a free-standing paraffin heater.

Where appropriate, these can be loaned with relevant individual items.

Individual Items  Model of Roman chariot

There are both models and artifacts, including clothing, construction, geological specimens, stuffed birds and animals, and weapons.

These can be loaned either separately, or in conjunction with relevant themed boxes.

Textiles

There are 20 samples of different types and designs of materials, usually in 3yd lengths, fitted with Rufflette tape and curtain rings.  They can be used as period back drops for displays, or as specimens in their own right.

Audiovisual Material

This consists largely of photographic and microscope slides.  The material is in the process of being digitised, and so will become available in the original slide format or as a series of .jpg images on CDs.  Please specify which format you would prefer or, if another format would be easier, please email the museum at education@mkmuseum.org.uk
