WORKING HORSES

Working horses were a familiar site in local towns, villages and farms up to the 1950s but are now a rarity. The Museum is fortunate to have a resident carter, Howard Yates, who is able to offer a number of special opportunities for members of the public to discover all about working with horses.
HORSES AND SCHOOL VISITS
The carter and horses are at the Museum regularly during the week for school visits. Pupils will learn about the importance of the horse in agricultural history and see how the horse works with waggons and farm machinery. They will also have an opportunity to ask the carter questions about working with horses today.
COURSES WITH HORSES
The Museum is able, in conjunction with the carter, to offer opportunities to work with horses in a variety of working situations.
