Victorian Classroom At Milton Keynes Museum

Education has changed dramatically since Victorian times.

Today the Museum is involved with many aspects of education.

WHAT'S ON DISPLAY

The Victorian Schoolroom includes many items from class rooms through the ages. Visitors can: 

  • sit at an old-fashioned desk
  • use a slate to practice spelling and arithmetic.
  • read lessons off the blackboard.
  • look through old text books or see examples of work created by children in Victorian times.
  • look at the stuffed animals in their glass cases.
  • ring the hand bell but look out for the teacher who may be carrying a cane!
