Our Granary Tea Room is open every day that we are open, including event days and for organised parties. It is known for its incredible homemade cakes and this is a key element of a visitor’s experience. On event days extra concessions are opened in our caravans.   

 

Key elements of the role

  • Serve on counter
  • Welcome visitor
  • Move stock and stock up tea rooms.
  • Clear and clean tables
  • Take food and drinks orders
  • Wash up
  • Prepare food
  • Handle cash and use a till

 

Commitment

At the Milton Keynes Museum we understand that people only have a limited amount of free time. Therefore any commitment, Therefore any commitment, you can make will be gratefully received.

 

Our catering outlet is open from Wednesday to Sunday from April to October and weekends November to March. The museum is also open seven days a week during school half-terms and on bank holidays. However there may be other times requested to come in to help with preparation of food and other duties.

 

What we are looking for

  • Interest in gaining experience in a catering outlet.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence in talking with visitors
  • Commitment to excellent customer service
  • Common sense
  • Attention to detail
  • An interest in the museum and its ongoing story
  • Works well under pressure
  • Team worker
  • A Health and Hygiene certificate (preferable, not needed)

Training and induction

  • Full induction to the site and history
  • Shadowing other volunteers
  • Ongoing training will be provided as and when necessary
