We aim to have volunteers throughout the Museum to talk to visitors. We believe this gives the Museum a friendly face and is the best way of providing accessible information for individual visitors. It is a >very important role in the Museum.

>Welcome visitors to each area

>Present, instruct and inform visitors and the general public about the museum and collection

>Invigilate and secure the collection

>Provide guided tours around the museum

>Keep the museum clean and tidy

At Milton Keynes Museum we understand that people only have a limited amount of free time. Therefore any commitment, you can make will be gratefully received.

Room Guides are needed from Wednesday to Sunday when the museum is open from April to October and weekends November to March usually 10.30am-4.30pm. The museum is also open seven days a week during school half-terms and on bank holidays. However there may be other times requested to come in for guided tours.

Training and induction

>Full induction to the site and history

>Shadowing other volunteers

>Full notes on the exhibits within each room to help with your knowledge

>Ongoing training will be provided as and when necessary
